Western North records some of the highest rainfall in Ghana, which explains both its lush, green hills and its status as a major hub for both local and large-scale gold mining. The combination of rich soils and heavy rain makes this one of the most visually green regions in the entire country, a marked contrast to Ghana's drier northern regions.

Getting there

Western North is reached primarily through Kumasi or via routes from the Western Region's Sekondi-Takoradi, given its position carved from the original Western Region. The drier months (November-March) are generally easier for travel given the region's heavy rainfall patterns.
