How the application works

It starts with a WhatsApp message: make, model, year, and a few photos of the vehicle. From there, AccraDrive schedules a quick inspection to confirm roadworthiness and paperwork, and agrees on availability and pricing guidance together with the owner before the car goes live to renters.

What's covered while your car is out

Every booking on a listed vehicle runs under AccraDrive's comprehensive insurance for the duration of that trip. Renters go through the same licence and ID verification used for AccraDrive's own fleet, and if damage does occur, the insurance partner handles the claim directly rather than leaving the owner to negotiate it.

Individual owners vs. fleet operators

The program works two ways. An individual with one car sitting idle can list it and set their own availability around personal use. A small rental agency can list several vehicles alongside AccraDrive's own fleet for extra exposure and bookings, while still managing their own customer relationships and pricing independently.

Getting paid

Earnings are released within 48 hours of a trip ending — no monthly batching, no chasing an accounts department. Payout is via mobile money or bank transfer, whichever the owner prefers.

What about normal wear and tear?

This is the most common concern we hear from owners considering the program, and it's a fair one. Normal wear — a bit more mileage, ordinary road dust, the kind of use any car experiences — isn't charged to the renter or deducted from your earnings. The insurance and inspection process specifically distinguishes this from actual damage, which is the only thing that triggers a claim. Owners keep a record of their car's condition before it's first listed, so there's a clear baseline to compare against.

Which cars qualify?

Vehicles generally need to be under 10 years old, roadworthy with current DVLA documentation, and in good mechanical condition — no major existing damage or unresolved mechanical issues. Sedans and small cars tend to get matched with bookings fastest, given AccraDrive's self-drive fleet in Accra is concentrated in that category, but SUVs and vans are also accepted, particularly for owners interested in the wedding and tour segments of the business.

What realistic earnings actually look like

Earnings depend heavily on the car's condition, class, and how much availability the owner offers — a car listed only on weekends will naturally earn less than one available most weekdays too. Owners with a well-maintained sedan offering regular weekday availability tend to see the most consistent bookings, since that matches the bulk of AccraDrive's demand (airport transfers, city self-drive, and short business trips). This isn't a guaranteed fixed income — it scales with how much of the car's idle time you're willing to make available.

There's no cost to apply, and nothing is charged until your car actually starts earning through a confirmed booking.
